About AYSO Region 571

AYSO Region 571 serves the Ada / Cascade / Forest Hills areas primarily, but we also serve children from Grand Rapids, Rockford, East Grand Rapids, Plainfield Township, Lowell and Kentwood. Our practice and game fields are within the Forest Hills School District. Most fields are at one of the schools in the district: Ada Park, Cascade Township Park and Grand Rapids Township Park.

Time Involved

  • For U8 and up, practices are held once per week (Monday – Friday) on a day and location which are at the discretion of the team head coach. They will also have a game each Saturday that will last approximately one hour.
  • The U5 and U6 division holds practices on Saturday just prior to their scheduled match. They will have an hour on the field.
  • Our soccer year runs for two consecutive seasons: Fall and Spring, with each season consisting of seven (7) or eight (8) games. You must sign up for each individual season (Fall and Spring).

AYSO Fees

  • Registration fee per player is $70.00 per season. There is a $10.00 fee reduction for each additional sibling registering. The player fees cover secondary medical insurance (primary medical insurance if no other is available), cost of a full uniform, a team photo during the Fall season and a small trophy during the Spring season. Fees are used for field equipment and maintenance, field use fees, coach and referee training and referee uniform and equipment.
  • Teams are divided by age group and gender (Boys and Girls – no co-ed teams except at the U16 and U19 Interplay level). The following are the age divisions:
  • Under 5, Under 6, Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19.

The minimum age for participation in the AYSO soccer program is 4 years of age by the previous July 31.

Forming Teams

  • At the lower age division, U5, U6, U8 U10, and U12 games are held as short sided matches. At U14 and above teams play with a full complement of 11 players. At the U14 divisions and above our teams participate in Interplay, which consists of limited travel to play other nearby AYSO regions. Travel is kept to no more than 60 minutes and is usually only for half of a team’s games.
  • Players are placed into the respective division based on the attained birthday by July 31 of the fall season. (i.e. A player has a birthday of 7/30 and turns 12 on that date. They would be in the Under 14 division; If, however, a player turned 12 on 8/1, they would still be eligible to play in the U12 division).
  • Our Age Coordinators primary objective is to make the teams as balanced as possible. As a result, we can not guarantee teammate requests. We do try to ensure that your child will have a few team members that are from the same school.
